Samuel Lee Halbert, 34, of Steelville, Missouri passed away Friday, January 4, 2008 in Steelville. He was born November 21, 1973 in Rolla, Missouri to Ken and Elizabeth (Callahan) Halbert. On May 3, 1997, he was united in marriage to Sara (Wallis) Halbert who survives of the home.

In addition to his wife, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by one son, Samuel Halbert and two daughters, Peggy and Natalie Halbert; four brothers, Scott Halbert and wife Rhonda of Cuba, Missouri, Joe Halbert and wife Kira of Steelville, MO, John Halbert and wife Teresa of Davisville, Missouri and Rick Halbert and wife Kendra of North Pole, Alaska; two sisters, Paula McGinnis and husband David of Steelville, Missouri and Lila Halbert of Viburnum, Missouri; his parents, Ken and Elizabeth Halbert of Steelville, Missouri; grandmother, Ina Halbert of Steelville, Missouri; special friend, Matt Altom; mother and father in-law, James and Sarah Fern Wallis of Steelville; brothers and sisters in-law, Jeff and wife Julie Perkins, Jackie and husband Gary Blanford, Jennifer and husband Brad Bouse, Eric and wife Michelle Wallis all of Steelville, Missouri, Danny and wife Pam Wallis of Viburnum, Missouri and Becky and husband Rick Garrison of Wyoming; thirty nieces and nephews and five great-nieces and nephews; aunts, uncles, cousins and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, B.L. “Doc” Halbert, his grandparents, Fred and Margaret Callahan, his mother in-law Peggy Wallis, his grandparents in-law, Andy and Gladys Wallis and William Fields.

Sam worked in the family business at Halbert Construction in Steelville. He was a member of the Straightway Baptist Church of Steelville where he was the music director. Sam along with Sara helped with the youth of the church. He enjoyed playing softball, deer hunting and most of all being with his family.
