PORTLAND – Ruth J. Hamm, 83, a longtime resident of 100 State Street, died peacefully on Thursday, February 6, surrounded by her loving children.
“Ruthie,” as she was known to her many friends, was born in Bridgton and attended school in Bridgton and Portland. She was the youngest daughter of Guy and Lena (Simmons) Lord. She loved a good lobster roll (without the roll), the bismarks from Tony’s Donuts, and never missed a chance for a hamburger at Harmon’s.
She was predeceased by her loving husband of 33 years, Alton L. Hamm, Jr., her infant son Michael Thomas Hamm, her older sister Annette Rowe, her brother Paul Lord, and her life-long friend Phyllis Michaud.
She is survived by her sons Byron, Gary and George, by her devoted daughter Mary, three granddaughters, four great-grandchildren, her sister Charlotte Clemens, and four nieces.
She is also survived by her special and supportive cousin Chucky Robarts and his wife Dee, of Maine and Connecticut.
