Russell “Russ” Ernest Wilson, 82, of Piedmont, was born July 10, 1940, to Robert Edgar and Blanche Lee (Meloy) Wilson at Taskee, near Greenville. He passed away peacefully with his wife Sharon by his side at his beloved home on the farm.

Russ was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was known for his infectious smile and kind, gentle heart. He loved humor and always had something to share with others to brighten their day and always remembered to say Thank You.

He was a Vietnam Veteran, entering the US Army in 1964. Later, he enjoyed being a heavy equipment operator and truck driver. Most of all he loved being on a tractor at the farm.

He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, Wayne Masonic Lodge #526, Piedmont Chapter #347, Order of the Eastern Star and Piedmont Eagles Club #4227. He loved being a part of the Trinity Tour Group, traveling around with a group of wonderful friends that always seemed to be able to find the best eating establishments.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sister: Margaret Rosie Nelson; brothers: Ross Wilson, Harold Wilson, Lyndell Wilson and Ira Wilson.

Russ is survived by his loving wife, Sharon Bearden Wilson; sister: Alice Christian of Iron Mountain Lake; brother: Francis “Dusty” Wilson of Farmington; sons: Rick Wilson of St. Louis, Ray Wilson of Cuba; grandchildren: Ricky Wilson, Andrew Wilson, August Wilson, David Kelly, Shania Wilson and Justin Bearden; great grandchildren: Daviny Kelly and David Atreyu Lee Bearden.
