Roy “Louis” Davis of Steelville, Missouri passed away Friday, February 24, 2012 at the Missouri Veterans Home in St. James, Missouri at the age of 88 years. He was born in Davisville, Missouri to Roy Allen Davis and Estelle Frances “Fannie” Martin Davis on May 8, 1923. On September 5, 1942 in Steelville, Missouri he was united in marriage to Agnes Marie Turnbough who preceded him in death in July of 2005.

Louis served his country honorably during WWII in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1945. He fought at Iwo Jimo and received a Bronze Star and served during the Pacific Theatre and in Guam. He worked several years for the Bi State Development in St. Louis and retired and moved back to the farm in Crawford County in 1985. He was a member of the Masonic Order of the Spirit Lodge of St. Louis and the Amalgamated Transit Union #788. He was also a member of the Cuba Christian Church.

He will be sadly missed by his six sons Bill Davis and wife Karen, Robert Davis and wife Darlene, Charles Davis and wife Sharon all of Union, MO, Lydle Davis of Steelville, MO, Gary Davis and wife Ramona of St. Louis, MO and Fred Davis of Union, MO; two daughters Mary Mead of Steelville, MO and Alta Warner and husband David of St. Louis, MO; two sisters Hilma Adams of Linn, MO and Joann Crabtree and husband Robert of Bourbon, MO; sisters-in-law Elsie Davis of Overland, MO, Ina Davis of Steelville, MO, Mildred Davis of St. Louis, MO and Juanita Turnbough of St. Louis, MO; thirteen grandchildren;  many great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Agnes Marie; one daughter Linda Davis; one grand-daughter Tina Clark; six brothers Lytle Davis, Eugene Davis, Jack Davis and wife Ina, Gilbert Davis, Glen Davis and wife Virginia and Max Davis; two sisters Nerene McGlasson and husband Bruce and Hazel Gibbs and husband Ray; brothers-in-law Treffie Adams, Glenn Turnbough and wife Naomie, Arnold Turnbough and Jr. Turnbough and wife Norma.

The Family received friends from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Honored to be casket bearers were Bill Davis, Robert Davis, Charles Davis, Lydle Davis, Gary Davis and Fred Davis with honorary casket bearers as David Warner, Bobby Davis and Roy Davis.
