Rosella Skaggs, nee Wood, 101, of Berryman, MO passed away Thursday, March 31, 2011 at her home. She was born July 28, 1909 at Upper Indian Creek in Viburnum, MO to Richard and Anna Henslee Wood. She was married to Claude Skaggs on April 7, 1962 in Las Vegas, NV who preceded her in death in 1989.
In the 1920’s, Rosella moved to St. Louis and worked at Grandma’s Bakery for several years. She later moved to Los Angeles, CA for many years and worked as a cake decorator for Pollyanna’s Bakery in East LA. She married Claude Skaggs while there and moved on to South Dakota. In 1978, Claude moved her back to Missouri and settled at Berryman, MO.
She loved animals and was known to have many cats and dogs. She enjoyed clipping newspaper articles and pictures and was an avid reader.
She is survived by her sister, Jennie Pauline Smith of Steelville, MO; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Claude Skaggs; and four brothers, Walter Wood and wife Mary Ann, Herman “Bud” Wood and wife Virginia, Fredrick Wood and Hyle Wood and wife Alice.
