Age 83, Rose Marie passed away on March 20, 2014, at home. She was born December 19, 1930, in Carson City, Michigan to Nicholas and Helen Grace (née Handlon). As a teenager, she volunteered as a hospital candy striper, soda jerk, ticket taker at the movie theater, and church organist at St. Mary’s Parish. She was valedictorian of her Carson City St. Mary’s high school. Rose Marie married John Cotter on June 23, 1951. She was a parishioner of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and was active in the Altar Society and other parish activities. She attended Aquinas College and received her Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Education from Central Michigan University. She taught in Pewamo-Westphalia’s school system from 1958 until her retirement in 1988. She loved playing golf, tennis, bowling, gardening, baking cinnamon rolls and cookies, quilting, and many types of card games, which she played with friends from many nearby communities. She enjoyed being with family at various Michigan lakes.
