Rolland Arthur “Rollie” Mueller, age 72 of Lake Vermilion – Tower died Tuesday, April 2, 2013 in his home, with his family at his side, after a battle with cancer. He was born April 18, 1940 in Eau Claire, WI the son of Rudolph and Elfreda (Westphal) Mueller and was a graduate of Fall Creek High School, class of 1958. Rollie grew up on the Mueller Dairy Farm in Brackett, WI until High School graduation and then lived in Madison, WI and St. Paul, MN. He married Joan Eileen Clarke on September 7, 1963 in Eau Claire, WI. They made their home in Omaha, NB and Minnetonka, MN prior to retiring to Lake Vermilion in 2006. Rollie’s employment was a lifetime of logistics and transportation management with Steffke Freight Co., Briggs Transportation, Tonka Toys, Schaper Mfg., Softsoap, Inc., Minnetonka Brands, and Integris Metals. He was a former member of Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Hopkins. Rollie had served in the Minnesota Air National Guard, was president of the Vermilion Penguins snowmobile club, was an avid train collector, enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was a hot air balloon pilot for the Softsoap hot air balloon.
Rollie is survived by his wife of 49 years: Joan; children: Kristin Lynn (Scott Eric) Johnson of Blaine and Jeffry Rollin Mueller of Waconia, MN; sister: Ione Nelson of Eau Claire, WI; nieces, nephews, extended family, and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers: Kenneth, Herbert, and Leonard Mueller.
