Robert W. “Bob” Hughes, 86, of New Haven, Missouri, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, November 6, 2011 at Missouri Veteran’s Home, St. James, Missouri.
Mr. Hughes was born in Middletown, Missouri on February 21, 1925, the son of the late Thomas J. and Grace (Butler) Hughes.
He was the husband of Leona (Diederich) Hughes. They were married on August 4, 1950 at Warrensburg, Missouri. She survived in New Haven.
Robert is also survived by three sons, Robert J. Hughes & wife Vicki, Rodney W. Hughes & wife Leslie and Richard A. Hughes & wife Candi all of New Haven and six grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and three brothers Harold E., Joseph C., and William H. Hughes.
Robert proudly served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during WWII. He was a member of St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, New Haven, Missouri, the New Haven American Legion, New Haven & Hermann V.F.W., Loutre Shore Country Club. He enjoyed golfing, racing go-carts and deer & quail hunting.
Robert was co-owner of New Haven Motor Company for over 20 years. He also sold vehicles for Modern Auto, Straatman Toyota and Maczuk Chrysler.
