Age 82, passed away on Friday, November 25, 2005 at Ionia County Memorial Hospital. He was born on May 4, 1923 in Ionia the son of Mark R. and Leona (Coe) Westbrook. He graduated from Ionia High School in 1940. He served and was decorated in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II for his service in New Guinea and the Philippines. He returned to Michigan, attended Michigan State University, and farmed in partnership with his brother Tom for over 50 years. He was a true steward of the land and he used the most up to date farming and environmental practices to preserve and protect the land. He planted thousands of trees that will enhance the land for many generations to come. He served as Chariman and board member of the Ionia County Farm Bureau and was chairman of the Ionia Soil District board for 16 years. He was also a board member of the Michigan Crop Improvement Association. He was also a pilot and enjoyed flying for many years. Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Norma; four sons, James N. (Jane) of Grand Rapids, Robert H. of Ionia, Ross S. (Paula) of Williamston and Mark R. (Mary Jo) of Shelbyville; one daughter, Natalie Morey (Roger) of Kailua, Hawaii; five grandchildren, Beth, Ted, Tom, Jake and Kate; brother, Tom of Saranac; two sisters, Eleanor (Colin) Williams of Saranac and Dorothy Bird of Belding.
