Robert passed away at his home in Ionia, Michigan on August 6, 2008. He was born on October 10, 1942 in Erie, PA the son of Charles J. Slomski, Sr. and Stella Zarnecki Slomski Sloan. He was preceded in death by his father. Besides his loving wife Joyce Slomski, he leaves his mother, Stella Sloan and step father Jim Sloan; brother Charles J. Slomski, Jr. and wife Beverly of Annapolis, MD; son and daughter-in-law, John and Dawn; grandsons Nicholas and Jack; nieces and nephews; aunts, uncles and many cousins. He also leaves a loving step family, Philip and Jana Fedon, Nicole, Jessica, Bailey, Mia, and Chasity. He attended the Dr. John RC School and graduated from Erie Technical High School. He served honorably in the U.S. Navy on the USS Cascade and took part in the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis. He owned the Erie Typewriter in the 70’s and retired from the U.S. Postal Service in Erie, PA. In his free and most enjoyable time, he owned and operated a charter fishing service, The Yankee Charmer, in Erie, and was an avid hunting, fishing, and boating sportsman. His enthusiasm for the outdoors and the stories he related will be missed. Recently, Robert and Joyce enjoyed the first opportunity of living their dream to travel to parks throughout the United States.
