Age 71, loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 10, 2009. He was born on September 24, 1937 in Westphalia the son of Robert and Adeline (Bohr) Platte. Bob farmed his entire life in Westphalia where he loved to fish at the pond, golf, and play cards. What he loved to do most was spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, the Westphalia Knights of Columbus St. Jude Thaddeus Council, and the Catholic Order of Foresters. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Paul Platte. Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Beverly (Meitler); children, David Platte of Grand Rapids, Pamela (William) Kavanagh of Portland, and John Platte of Westphalia; 5 grandchildren, Ashley, Robert, Brandon, Brent, and Chelsea; 5 siblings, Arlene Koster of Grand Ledge, Evelyn (Louis) Hengesbach of Westphalia, Mary Ellen (Elvan) Pohl of Westphalia, Gladys (Robert) Bengel of Westphalia, and Diane (Bill) Thelen of Pewamo; several nieces and nephews.
