Age 84, loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away on Saturday, April 4, 2009. He was born on April 2, 1925 in Westphalia the son of Louis and Mary (Fernholz) Barker. Mr. Barker was a Veteran of World War II serving in the United States Army and received a purple heart for his duty to his country. He was a member of the Fowler, Pewamo, Westphalia VFW Post #3733, St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pewamo, the Pewamo Knights of Columbus Council, the St. Joseph Society, the Catholic Order of Foresters, and the TPA. He was past owner of Bob Barker’s Standard Station in Pewamo and also was a branch manager of Central National Bank in Pewamo. What he enjoyed the most in life was his family and watching his grandchildren playing sports. He was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law Jim Hengesbach; 3 brothers, Florian, Elmer, and Ralph Barker. Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Kathleen (Hanses); son, Allan Barker of Edmore; 3 daughters, Shirley Linn of Grand Ledge, Patti Hengesbach of Westphalia, and Lori (Mike) Wieber of Portland; 10 grandchildren, Rob (Kari), Tara, Cole, Haley, Hanna, Scott, Heather, Holly, Amber, and Amy; siblings, Jerome Barker, Marvin (Sandy) Barker, and Alberta (Richard) Thelen; brothers and sisters-in-law, Lorraine Barker, Angela Barker, Revella Smith, Dorothy Hattis, David (Kate) Hanses, and Liz (Bob) Spitzley; several nieces and nephews.
