Edgecomb- Robert “Hennie” E. Townsend, 80, of Boothbay Road died Sunday, January 8, 2017 at his residence.
He was born in Boothbay Harbor on January 8, 1937, a son of Clarence E. and Lucille D. (Bradley) Townsend.
He graduated high school in the class of 1955 which was the last class out of Boothbay Harbor High School. In 1957 he married Rebecca Erskine. He was employed as a carpenter and in 1960 he began his contractor business, retiring at the age of 62.
He enjoyed NASCAR, listening to country music and going to flea markets.
He is survived by his wife, Rebecca E. Townsend of Edgecomb, one son, Jeffrey A. Townsend of Boothbay Harbor, one daughter, Teresa A. Townsend and her longtime companion Richard Leeman of Boothbay Harbor, one sister, Estelle Appel of Boothbay, three grandchildren, Peter Townsend, Rachael Townsend, Colter Leeman and three great grandchildren.
