Robert Charles Remy, 74, died in Chapel Hill, NC on June 8, 2014.
Bob was born on July 4, 1939 in California, Pennsylvania. He was the second son of Charles Remy and Frances Volkavich Remy of California, PA. A proud graduate of Penn State, he served as an officer in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Naval Reserve before beginning his career as an aeronautical engineer at Westinghouse in Bowie, MD and then Vitro Corporation, in Aspen Hill, MD. He retired from BAE Systems as Director of Space Operations.
He lived for many years in Brookeville, MD and retired with his wife Carol Witt Remy, to Chapel Hill, NC. Planning the home they built there, keeping count of the woodpeckers and deer who made free use of the yard, and taking his dog, Oliver, for swims at Jordan Lake kept him busy. His library of military history books continued to expand as did the collection of model planes that he kept planning to get to.
Bob is survived by his wife, Carol; his older brother Ron and sister-in-law Nancy Remy of Mansfield, PA; Leigh Ann Remy (Rainer Steinwandt) of Wilder, VT and Russell Andrew Remy (Normandy Brangan) of Silver Spring, MD, his children by his first marriage to Patricia W. Phillips; a nephew, Ron and his niece, Danielle Remy Pritz. Bob was the proud grandfather of MacLaren Remy and Andrew West Remy (who bears more than a passing resemblance to his grandpa).
