Age 81, loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on Wednesday, July 14, 2010. He was born on April 1, 1929 in Grand Rapids the son of Ralph and Lucille (Simmons) Montgomery. Mr. Montgomery worked as a Machine Repairman for General Motors for 38 years before retiring and was a proud member of the UAW. He along with his wife, Doris attended Easton United Methodist Church and he helped with the addition to the church. He enjoyed going to the Ionia Free Fair every year and loved the outdoors including water skiing, hunting, fishing and sailing. He loved his family and friends, and was a true people person who would help anyone. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Alice Corey; brothers, Jack and Judson Montgomery; sister, Marian Godden; Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Doris Montgomery of Ionia; children, Mary Montgomery Colvin of Saranac, Donna (Dick) Nees of Jackson, and David (Debra) Montgomery of Ionia; son-in-law, Herbert Corey of Ionia; grandchildren, Nicholas Colvin, Sara Nees, Matthew Nees, Joshua Montgomery, Melissa and Jason Sisler, Robert C. (Maria Pitchford) Montgomery II, and Megan Corey; 4 step grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren, Brianna Ardis, Chloe Sisler, and Braxton Ray Montgomery; sister, Joan Strickling of Belding; several nieces and nephews.
