Robert Paul Myers Sr.
Robert “Bob” Paul Myers, Sr., 83, of Gautier, MS, passed away on Sunday, July 3, 2022.
Bob was born on November 12, 1938, to Kenneth Webster Myers and Melva Beckham Myers of Pascagoula, MS. As a young man, Bob was at home on the coastal waters and had a passion for all water activities including boating, skiing, fishing, shrimping, crabbing, and oystering. He passed along this passion to his children and grandchildren.
He graduated from Our Lady of Victories High School in 1956 and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology from Mississippi Southern College, now known as The University of Southern Mississippi. He was a retired civil servant of the United States Navy Supervisor of Shipbuilding.
Bob was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Gautier for over 55 years. He served as Parish Council President and was a member of numerous committees, including the church building committee. Bob was instrumental in building St. Mary’s present church and parish hall. He was also a long-time and Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Kenneth G. “Jerry” Myers, Sr. He is survived by his “best catch” and loving wife of 57 years, Betty Diana Jones Myers, son Robert P. Myers, Jr. (Courtney) of Biloxi, son Eric Allen Myers (Linda) of Gautier, and daughter Kimberly Myers Tillman (Richie) of Pascagoula, grandchildren Eiland Anderson Stebly, Emry Amelia Stebly, Meade Robert Myers, Kaley Reanna Myers, Darby Michelle Myers, Avery Alexander Thompson and several nieces and nephews.
