Bob Almquist, age 64 of Biwabik died November 5, 2016 while deer hunting. He was born June 28, 1952 in Virginia, the son of Arthur and Lois (Peterson) Almquist. In his early years, he lived in McKinley with is parents and brother, later the family moved to Lakeland. Bob graduated from Horace Mann High School in Biwabik in 1971. He served in the US Army from 1972 to 1974. He was self-employed as an auto body mechanic most of his life, having learned the trade from his father, Art in their shop in Lakeland. He also was employed in the explosives industry for many years, first at Energy Sciences and later at Minnesota Explosives. Bob was an avid outdoorsman. He hunted and fished all of his life. In 1977 he built a hunting shack on the Jim Readdy forest road with his father, lifelong friends, and brother-in-law: Dave.
