After a short illness, Richard Owings Elder, Sr. went to his heavenly rest on Sept. 15, 2013. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Edwina Duaine Elder and his son, Richard O. Elder, Jr. and his wife Ginny. Also survived by his grandsons, Stephen Wyatt and Edwin Maxwell, 2 brothers, Charles B. Elder and John S. Elder, and a sister, Frances E. Baldwin. Predeceased by a son, Stephen Voss Elder and a brother, Wyatt Norris Elder. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
