Richard Arthur Gillette, age 83 of Gasconade MO, Passed away on March 29, 2014 at Mercy Hospital in Washington, MO.
Mr. Gillette was born in Greenbush TWP, Warren County IL December 14,1930. The son of the late James Arthur Gillette and Zelma Fern (Fayler) Gillette preceded him in death.
Mr. Gillette was also preceded in death by his first wife Eleanor J. Gillette who was the mother of his 8 children: Diana Wahl (Bruce) of Canyon Country, CA, Patti Fisher of East Carbon UT, James (Vicky) of Fort Mill, SC, Martin (Caleen) of Canyon Country, CA. Preceding Mr. Gillette in death were his sons John, William, David and Richard Arlan.
Mr. Gillette is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren .
Mr. Gillette married his second wife Marilyn Ann Gillette on February 2, 1984, who survives at home in Gasconade, MO and son Robert (Phyllis) of New Florence, MO. Mr. Gillette is also survived by his sisters: Martha, Patricia and Beverly, all of Macomb, IL and one brother Robert Gillette of Danville, IA. Mr. Gillette was a member of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Hermann, MO.
Upon retirement Mr. Gillette enjoyed Fraternal Organizations: U.S. Navy Fleet Reserve and Fraternal Order of Eagles. Past president of Pensacola, FL, Past president of Englewood, CO and Federal Heights, CO. He also was a member of the F.O.E. of Hermann, MO. He loved to vegetable and flower gardening and traveling with his wife.
After retirement from the Navy, Mr. Gillette was employed by N.A.S. P.W.D. Pensacola, FL after 12 years at P.W.D. Mr. Gillette relocated to Denver, CO and was a licensed contractor of Gillette Construction Company, commercial and residential. After retiring in 1996 he moved to the lovely state of Missouri.
