Rev. D.J. “Pop Pop” Wooten, Sr., 82, of Cambridge went home with the Lord on Sunday, January 15, 2017 at his home with his family by his side. He was born on January 28, 1934 in Linwood, PA and was a son of the late Joseph and Mary Trice Wooten.
He graduated from Eddystone High School in Linwood, PA and graduated from United Wesleyan College in Allentown, PA. On June 6, 1953, he married the former Jean Crissinger, who passed away on September 27, 2002. Later, he married the former Lily Jane Lauck on August 21, 2004. Rev. Wooten was the founding minister of Open Bible Church. He served the Lord for over 63 years. In his later years he would fill in for other churches. Rev. Wooten enjoyed horseback riding, fishing, bowling, studying the Bible, and writing music. He was a member of the Western Horseman.
He is survived by his wife Lily Jane Wooten of Cambridge, four sons Rev. David J. Wooten, Jr. and wife Diane, Dennis J. Wooten and wife Robin, Donnie J. Wooten and wife Lanie all of Cambridge and Rev. Douglas J. Wooten and wife Roberta of Washington State, 11 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and his first wife, Rev. Wooten is preceded in death by a granddaughter Kimberly Wooten, and a sister Ruth Berrian.
