Raymond R. Smith of Denton, MD, died Sunday, January 24, 2016, at the Memorial Hospital in Easton, MD. He was 74 years old.
Born in Altoona, PA on September 6, 1941, Mr. Smith was the son of the late Edward Thomas Smith and Marie Margaret Trexler Smith. He has lived in Denton since 2000, coming from Frederic Lodge in Townsend, DE.
Mr. Smith was a US Navy veteran, having served in the Pacific on the USS Constellation aircraft carrier. He was a construction and suspended ceiling specialist and attended the St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Denton. He was a member of the Dover American Legion Post 2, the VFW Memorial Post 4961 in Seaford, DE, and the AM Vets.
Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Barbara R. Smith of Denton; two step children: Ruth G. Prattis (Greg) of Norfolk, VA and Gary A. Greenly (Judy) of Goldsboro, MD; three brothers: George Smith of North Carolina, William Smith of Altoona, PA, and Philip Smith of Alum Bank, PA; four sisters: Rita Miedl of Greensboro, MD, Ruth Novak, Mary Snowberger and Dolores Perkins, all of Altoona, PA. He was preceded in death by three brothers, James Smith, Charles Smith, and Thomas Smith; and two sisters, Mildred Stafford and Dorothy Smith.
