Raymond Frank Pelkey, age 71, of Buhl and formerly of Hibbing died Thursday, March 6, 2014, in the Solvay Hospice House in Duluth. He was born January 1, 1943, in Pine River, MN, the son of Ernest and Geneva (Kinning) Pelkey. He graduated from Nashwauk High School and went on to complete the Drafting program at Staples Technical College. A veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, Ray served during the Vietnam War. Ray was united in marriage to Lynne Mackay on May 5, 1984, in Marble, MN.
Ray worked as a draftsman for L&M Radiator – retiring after 30 years of service. He enjoyed family get-togethers, hunting, fishing, and camping.
Ray is survived by his wife: Lynne; six children: Ronelle Bass of Superior, WI, Rochelle (Mitch) Louks of Hudson, WI, Rodney (Lara) Pelkey of Pengilly, MN, Ryan (Jennifer) Pelkey of Southington, CT, Jennifer (Robert) Oliver of Hinesville, GA, and Trina (Mike) Molick of Hibbing, MN; six siblings: Lawrence (Betty) Pelkey, Merel (Kathy) Pelkey, Marvel (Elvera) Pelkey, Clarence (Marilyn) Pelkey, June (Kim) Ross, and Alex (Debbie) Pelkey; 12 grandchildren: Hannah, Ian, Autumn, Riley, Samuel, McKenzie, Kaylee, Kaleb, Erin, Benjamin, Bobby, and a girl on the way!; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents: three brothers: Francis, Sonny, and Billy; a sister: Marie Ferraro; and two grandchildren: James Oliver, and Brooklyn Dufault.
