Grand Isle, ME – After several years of declining health, Raoul L.
Although Raoul worked for Fraser Papers in Madawaska for 38 years, his favorite place of work was on the family farm with his parents. He was always a farmer at heart, he had a passion for working the land and caring for the farm animals. With farming came gardening, he loved gardening not just because it fed the family not just because he was highly talented and successful at growing vegetables; not just because it earned him a multitude of compliments on the beauty of the gardens, but because the gardens were bountiful which allowed him to share the abundance of vegetables with family, neighbors, friends and co-workers.
Raoul is survived by his six children Patrick & his wife Marilyn of Madawaska; Marlene & her husband Gerald Long of Bristol, CT; Raymond & his wife Jackie of Edmundston, NB; Robert & his wife Betty of Grand Isle; Louise of Saint David; and Leo of Grand Isle. Nine Grandchildren: Paul, Margaret, Christopher, David, Susan, Nathalie, Eric, Nicole and Jason. Thirteen Great-Grandchildren: Brenton, Dustin, Thomas, Nikalas, Daniel, Christopher, Nicole, Noémie, Meghan, Krystine, Adrienne, Adeline & Nathaniel. Two Sisters-in-law Geraldine (Cyr) Chasse of Manchester, CT and Rachel (Albert) Desjardins of Edmundston, NB. He is also survived by a few cousins andmany nieces & nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, his wife, his siblings Sylvia Long, Lorraine Cyr, Adrienne, Therese, Roland aka “Mickey”,& Dolores Dugal; Great-Granddaughters Michelle Daigle-Chasse and Cassandra Chasse.
Raoul was a lifelong devoted parishioner of St. Gerard Catholic Church in Grand Isle; and a lifetime member of the American Legion Thomas O. Cyr Post #147.
