In 1969, he founded Haislip Corporation, as an electrical contractor. He worked hard his whole life but found time for family and his sports. He played football in High School and loved the Redskins. His family has fond memories of going to RFK stadium with him each year to see the games, even in the freezing cold winter. He watched “all” of the sports. He loved to play golf and would join his friends in Ocean City and various other places for rounds of golf for many years through 2017. Sonny loved the water. He vacationed most of his life in Ocean City, Maryland. After he retired, he would have each of his children’s families join him for a week individually where he would spoil them rotten with seafood dinners and many desserts at Dumser’s Dairyland. He loved his ice cream. Sonny had a very strong ties to his roots and extended family. He would make sure to invite his children and grandchildren to family reunions and to turkey and oyster dinners at Howard Chapel Church where they could meet and enjoy their many cousins and relatives. He is loved and will be missed.
