Age 88, passed away on Friday, September 26, 2014. She was born on November 8, 1925 in Monroe, MI the daughter of Harley and Elsie (Hoffman) Hasley. Mrs. Betz was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Ionia, a member of the Lady’s Aid Society, Luther Society, and Cart-N-Lobby Hospital Auxiliary. Phyllis worked for 14 years at Ionia Public Schools. She married Elvin Betz on November 29, 1946, and he preceded her in death in 2011. Also preceding her in death were her parents; sister, Doris; brothers, William and James. Surviving are her 3 sons, Dennis (Susan) Betz of Dexter, Philip (Debra) Betz of Grand Rapids, and Gary (Nancy) Betz of Ionia; 5 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Ivan Betz of Georgia; sisters-in-law, Pat Hasley of Kentucky and Pat Ryan of Tennessee.
