Pearl Ruth Mooradian passed away February 27, 2017 in Royal Oak, MI. Born in Boston, MA on July 15, 1919, she was the daughter of Hairabed Albert and Hilda (Schultz) Koleian. Pearl excelled in school and paid close attention to her studies in elocution and graduated with high honors. As a young girl, Pearl helped her family in her parents’ Delicatessen restaurant. The family moved to Detroit, where Pearl became an active member of the church and the AYF. A mutual friend introduced her to Hagop Mooradian and romance bloomed. They were happily married when Hagop entered the US Army during WWII. Stationed in Texas, Pearl joined him there until the end of his service. They returned to Detroit and opened a Gift Store. With her studies in business administration, she was able to assist in the store. Expanding from there, they opened Midway Cleaners, near Wayne State University, and successfully operated it for many years until they retired. The couple remained very active in the community, working hand in hand supporting Armenian causes and events with membership and leadership positions in St. Sarkis Armenian Apostolic Church, the AYF, ARF, ARS and the ARA. Pearl was always generous, caring and loving, who could be a trusted confidant to all. Impeccably dressed, she was an impressive, but humble, lady who cared for family and friends alike. She enjoyed being with her loved ones, whether going shopping or traveling or on cruises to many destinations.
