Roxie Pauline (Polly) Koster of Baudette, passed away November 8, 2022, at the age of 101 in The Warroad Senior Living Center surrounded by family.
Polly was born in Delaware Ohio on January 3, 1921 to Walter and Ruth McNamee, graduating from Brown H.S. in 1939. After attending secretarial school, she worked as a secretary in Columbus Ohio where she met her husband, Gerald.
Polly married Gerald Koster in Columbus, together they raised four children. In 1945 they moved to Raymond, MN. To Warroad in 1953, and Baudette, in 1959. She was active in the Civil Air Patrol in the late 50’s and early 60’s, American Legion Auxiliary, Daughters of The American Revolution, The Brink Center, and also active in the United Church of Christ, Women’s Fellowship, teaching Sunday School and for a period of time a church board member.
Polly worked as a homemaker, Hardware store clerk/owner, café waitress, and longtime clothing store clerk. She also had many interests and hobbies. She was an avid knitter, quilter, and won many prizes for her quilting work at the Lake of the Woods Fair. While living on Kelly Creek in Baudette she loved her flower and huge vegetable gardens, canning and sharing with family and friends for almost 60 years. Polly also enjoyed fishing, X country skiing, traveling, cooking, baking, and entertaining.
Polly was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Gerald (2001), her twin sister Irene (2019), and her sister Justine (2012) she also lost an infant, sister, Dorothy Lucille, and her Son-In-Law, David Dillon of Australia.
Polly is survived by her brother Walter (Gerry) McNamee, her Children Dennis (Barbara) Koster of Williams, MN., Roger (Jolene) Koster of Silver Bay, MN., Rochelle Dillon of Buderim, Australia, and Jacqueline Rae-Ledin (Terry Ledin) of Washburn, WI. Grandchildren, Laine Koster of Silver Bay, MN. Jennifer Koster (Scott Andrews) of Duluth, MN., Sean (Angela) Koster of Rogers, MN. Adam (Leslie) Dillon of Dubai, Casie Ledin, Joray Ledin, Stephen Ledin of Ashland, WI. Rene (Casey) Sheridan of Superior, WI. and Caitlin (Sam) Sparks of Canberra, Australia. Great Grandchildren, Cody Schimming, Devin Koster, (Maggie Faber), Tristan Koster, Aiden Koster, Erik Koster, Josh McClain, Kennedy Randleman, Elizabeth Ledin, Heath Ledin, Jayden Ledin, and Gerald Sheridan. And many nieces, nephews, and beloved friends.
