Phippsburg- Paul “Doc” Joseph Hanley died Saturday, August 21 at his residence in Popham after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born in New York City on, February 7, 1962, a son of William and Margaret (Ryan) Hanley. He attended New Jersey schools, and at the time of his death had been enrolled in the University of Maine system.
His adventuresome life included time spent in Florida and California in occupations including deep sea fishing and landscaping. Paul worked for many years in the culinary arts, most recently with Rock Gardens Inn in Sebasco. Prior to his mother’s death in February 2010, he was her devoted caregiver. His interests included travel, motorcycles, triking, Popham Beach and a love of animals, including many pets he rescued.
Paul was predeceased by his parents. Surviving are two sisters, Christine Pike and her husband Robert of Haverhill MA; Barbara Keltonic and her husband Stephen of Yarmouth; and one brother, William Hanley of Phippsburg ; niece, Monica Pike Marino; nephews Robert Pike and Daniel Keltonic, and great nieces Fiona and Maeve Marino; Uncle Eugene P. Hanley of Naples, FL and several cousins.
