Patricia Marie “Pat” Koskela, age 73 of Cherry died Monday, June 4, 2012 in the Fairview University Medical Center – Mesabi. She was born November 4, 1938 in Hibbing the daughter of Ole and Signe (Sande) Mesia and was a lifelong resident of Cherry. Pat was a graduate of Cherry High School and graduated from Hibbing Vocational Technical Institute as a Dental Assistant. She married Thomas A. “Tom” Koskela on November 30, 1957 in Cherry. Pat was employed as a Dental Assistant and later as an instructor with the Dental Assistant Program at Hibbing Community College. She was an active member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, served on its Council, and was a Sunday School Teacher for over twenty years. Pat enjoyed gardening, was a scuba diver, liked dancing especially square dancing, camping, fishing, traveling and reading. She loved teaching, was a 4-H leader, and was always helpful to others. Pat was known for her annual winter picnics, and cherished time spent with her family. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.
Pat is survived by her husband of 54 years: Tom; children: Debbie (Cliff) Lind, Dan (Tracy) Koskela of Sioux Falls, S. D. and Mike (Carolyn) Koskela of Fayal Twp.; sister: Sandra Meyers of Bloomington, MN; grandchildren: Kyle (Erin) Lind, Tony Lind, Jon Koskela, Connie Koskela, Logan Koskela, Katlin Koskela, Thomas Koskela, and Maggie Koskela; great-grandson: Reed Lind; numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son: Thomas, sister: Karen Joki; and nephew: Gary Joki.
