Patricia Anthony Moses, daughter of Dorothy McClaren Anthony and J. Garner Anthony, passed away peacefully on April 9th after a long illness. She was surrounded by her family in Maine, a place she has loved for many years. Pat was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii. When WWII broke out, she moved to Pennsylvania to live with an aunt and uncle. She attended Wellesley College, graduating in the class of 1948 with honors and a Bachelor of Science degree. After college, Pat worked in a lab in Boston, and was first introduced to the Boothbay Harbor region where she summered for many years. In 1950, Pat married John R. Moses and moved to Connecticut. From there, after a short stop in Wilmington, Delaware, Pat moved with her family to Kansas City where she lived and raised her family for close to 13 years. In the early 70’s, Pat moved to La Jolla, California where she lived very happily for the next 40 years. Pat was the Human Resource Director of a biotech startup, Agouron Pharmaceuticals. Agouron was known for creating one of the first significant AIDS drugs, Viracept. Pat, who was one of the original Agouron team members, retired in 1998 and split her remaining years between California and Maine. Pat was an active member of the church and the Junior League, and volunteered at many organizations over the years. She was an avid reader and had a wide variety of interests. She loved roses, gardening, fishing, bridge, and tennis. She also loved animals, especially her feisty felines, Sporty and Nicky. Pat’s grandchildren knew her as Mimi and remember her as a unifying and loving force in their lives. She always gave of herself and shared her spirit and love for life with them. Pat leaves behind her three daughters, Anne Moses, Lucy Moses and Abigail Bees; her sons-in-law Jonathan Bees and Ronnie Colby; four granddaughters, Jennifer Colby and her husband Jake Hughey, Keely Colby and her fiancé Jordan Bunch, Emily Bees, and Sarah Bees; one brother, Garner Anthony; and several nieces and cousins. Pat’s sense of humor and joie de vivre will be missed by all who had the good fortune to know her.
