Pastor Elmer “Dooley” Richard Garrison, 81, of Steelville, MO passed away Saturday, August 13, 2011 at Phelps County Regional Medical Center in Rolla, MO. He was born October 21, 1929 in St. Louis to Laborn L. Garrison and Mary Elizabeth Burk Garrison. In 2003 he was united in marriage to Ida Griego Marquez.

Pastor Dooley served his country honorably during the Korean War from 1951-1953.

During his life, he served as a pastor and an evangelist traveling across the United States. He also worked as a salesman for an insurance company and as a chef cooking for several nice restaurants in San Antonio, Las Vegas and Salt Lake City. The last eight years he was the pastor for Northside Full Gospel Church in Steelville.

Pastor Dooley had many talents. He loved playing his guitar and composed several songs. Dooley also enjoyed writing poetry, painting and drawing.

He will be sadly missed by his wife Ida of the home; two step-sons, Alex Marquez and James Marquez of Salt Lake City, UT; two step-daughters Hazel Barr and Jolene Welch of Salt Lake City, UT; one sister, Helen Gray of Steelville, MO; step-grandchildren; step-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; eight brothers, Joseph Aaron, Clarence, Hershel, Dorey, Wiley, Orville, Earl and Edward Garrison and infant brother; two infant sisters; and three step-children, Fred, Anthony and Lawrence Marquez.

The Family received friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Honored to be casket bearers were Shane Ryerson, Jack Scott, Dempsey Callahan, James Marquez, David Hurst and Estell Carey.
