Odette Ouellette, 94, went to be with her Lord, after a brief illness on December 18, 2022, at her daughter’s home in Holden, ME.  She was born on December 23, 1927, in Couillet Belgium, the daughter of Jules and Mariette (Vandenberg) Leclercq.

Following graduation, Odette met the love of her life, Jean Paul Ouellette while he was serving in the Armed Forces in Belgium during World War II.  They married in Belgium on September 8, 1945, and he took his war bride to settle in what was named Upper Frenchville, ME. They celebrated over 62 years of marriage and raised five children and fostered several children.

Surviving Odette are her sons Jean Paul (Ti-Jean) of Ft. Kent, ME, whom she cared for at home for over fifty years; Michael (Lynda),  of Frenchville, ME, Guy (Francine) of Tolland, CT, and an only daughter, Monique Deschaine (Joseph, d.), of Holden, ME; thirteen grandchildren – Christen, Anna, Adam, Carissa, Guy, Jr., Chantal, Aimee, Matthew, Nathaniel, Stephanie, Michael and Jonathan; and  eleven great-grandchildren; her foster children, Rita (Reggie, d.), Jackie, d., and Marie, d., (Marvin, d.). In addition to her parents and sisters, Yvette and Eugenie, Odette was predeceased by her husband Jean Paul, her son Rev. Richard Ouellette, son-in-law Joseph Deschaine and grandson Aaron Ouellette.

Over seventy years ago, Odette was a Founding Member and Past President of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 145 of Frenchville, ME. She was also a member of the Ladies of St. Anne, a member of the Ste. Luce church choir, a CNA at what is now named St. Joseph Memory Care, and a Title I Interpreter for the S.A.D. 33 School District.
