Norma Nicholls, 89, of East Grand Forks, MN, formerly of Alvarado, MN, passed away on Saturday, April 2, 2011 at her home.

Norma Ome-Fay Hanson was born on February 5, 1922 in Vega Township, Marshall County, MN, the daughter of Ralph C. and Clara O. (Larson) Hanson. She attended country school and graduated from Alvarado High School in 1940. Norma married Roland P. Nicholls on June 30, 1941 in East Grand Forks. They made their home in Warren, MN and Aurora, IL before moving to Alvarado in 1946. She was the village clerk for Alvarado during the middle Fifties and early Sixties. Norma worked for Pillsbury Corporation in Grand Forks as a disbursing clerk for twenty years before retiring in 1984. Roland died on July 13, 2001. Norma moved to the Good Samaritan Society Heritage Grove independent living apartments in 2006.

She was an active member of New Hope Lutheran Church in Alvarado. In recent years she enjoyed many activities with her friends at Good Samaritan Heritage Oaks.

Norma enjoyed entertaining her friends and others with her natural wit and humor.

Left to mourn her passing are her three children, Ronald (Sandra) Nicholls of Andover, MN; Sandra Dahlstrom of Cottage Grove, MN and Rykk (Peggy) Nicholls of Devils Lake, ND; nine grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; brother, Ralph C. (Vivian) Hanson of Alvarado, MN; sister, Shirley (Daniel) Grabanski of Casselton, ND and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three sisters, Connie Farder, Ardis Ferencik and Dorothy Olson and brother, Duane Hanson.
