Nora Theline Larson, the daughter of the late Knute Thompson-Thorbjornson and Carrie (Dole) was born on February 24, 1924 in Badger, Minnesota. She grew up on her parent’s farm near Badger, and attended School District #6. On July 4th, she met the love of her life, Victor Larson, at an Independence Day picnic. Victor went off to war, and Nora moved with her sister, Cora, to Minneapolis to work at the International Harvester Plant packing rifles during WWII. She also worked at the historic Mickey’s Diner in downtown St. Paul. After the war, she and Victor were married on December 28, 1945 in Greenbush, MN. In 1946, they bought a farm in Enstrom Township, south of Salol, MN. There they farmed grain, dairy and beef cattle. She kept busy raising her children and working in partnership with Victor on the farm. She enjoyed flower gardening, needlework, reading, crosswords, and her family and friends. After Victor’s death in 1999, she moved to Roseau in 2000.
She was active in the Four Seasons Senior Center, former member of Badger Creek Lutheran Church and First Lutheran Church in Salol.
Nora passed away on February 3, 2007 at the Roseau Area Hospital at the age of 82.
She is survived by her children, Richard A. (Linda-Alice) Larson of Apple Valley, MN, Wanda Shelton of Roseville, MN, Joann (James) Lambrides of Warroad, Edward (Normie) Larson of Diego Garcia, Sarah Larson of Richfield, MN, Kay (Tim) Lindgren of Brookings, SD and Brenda (John) Schumann of Litchfield, MN; 11 grandchildren, Andrew, Tracy, Melissa, Matthew, Nathaniel, Jessie, Ahnnica, Joel, Victoria, Thomas and Kate; great-grandchild, Jayden; and brother, Albert (Pearl) Thompson of Rhinelander, WI.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Victor; daughter, Ruby; son, Gary; stillborn infant; 2 sisters, Alice and Cora; and 3 brothers, Obert, Clarence and Richard.
