Noel Glen Grayson was born on September 11, 1928 in Steelville, Missouri and passed away on November 16, 2012 at the age of 84 years 2 months and 5 days.
Glen spent his entire life in and around Steelville and was proud of his hometown and the people there. He attended the Steelville Public Schools and graduated from Steelville High School in 1946. In 1946 he volunteered for the United States Army and served his country including duty in Japan. He was Honorably Discharged in 1949. He was employed by Brown Shoe Company in Steelville in October 1949. While there he served as Shop Steward and President of the local union, representing the people he worked alongside. In 1965 he was asked to work for the United Food and Commercial Union as an International Representative. Glen served 21 years working tirelessly for workers and laborers across the country – constantly fighting to improve working conditions and living wages. He retired in 1984.
Glen was united in marriage with Shirley Dingley, and their marriage was blessed with four children, Lena, Roger, Melinda (Missy) and Alan. Glen and Shirley took pride in leading their children into deeply devoted relationships. They showed their children the meaning and purpose of family through their loving example and gifts of time.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Viola May Schoen, his stepfather Milford Schoen, his sister Violet Ann Luhring, his niece Sally Luhring, his grandparents George and Sarah Grayson, Uncles, Aunts, and Cousins.
He is survived by his devoted and loving wife Shirley; his four dear children, Lena and husband Roger Halbert; Roger and wife Kim Grayson; Missy and husband Drew Stubblefield; and Alan and wife Wanda Grayson; thirteen grandchildren, Nicole and husband Tony Smith; Heather Halbert; Sarah and husband J.P. Dunn; Schoen and wife Kendall Grayson; Adam and wife Amber Grayson; Samantha and husband Brian Heckemeyer; Jessica and husband Josh Mabe; Andy and wife Lisa Stubblefield; Erin Stubblefield; Matt Stubblefield; Kyle and wife Hailey Grayson; Kara and husband Kyle Gearhart; Dillon Grayson; seventeen great-grandchildren, Jackson Case; Sophie Case; Mia Case; Elisabeth Dunn; John Dunn; Grayson Dunn; Cameron Grayson; Karleigh Grayson; Juliet Grayson; Gaven Grayson; Jonah Grayson; Benton Heckemeyer; Lane Mabe; Carter Mabe; Ada Mabe; Anslee Stubblefield; Chace Grayson; beloved cousin Edith Becker; sister in law Joy Dingley; friends Rita Stulce and Stanley Seidel II, Tony Stricklin, and many other relatives and friends.
The Family received friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
