Neil Perkins, 66, of Wesco, Missouri passed away Thursday, August 14, 2008 at Dubuis Hospital in Chesterfield, MO. He was born April 10, 1942 to Warren and Fern Marie (Housewright) Perkins in St. James, MO. On October 6, 1984, he was united in marriage to Phyllis Recar in Berryman, MO.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis; one son, Jeff Perkins and wife Julie of Steelville, MO; one daughter, Jackie Blanford and husband Gary of Steelville, MO; five grandchildren, Marlena Helms and husband Kyle of Washington, MO, Justin Perkins, Melanie Perkins, Philip Blanford and Kelsey Blanford all of Steelville, MO; other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Neil served in the U.S. Army and later transferred to the Missouri National Guard.

He had worked as a surveyor for the Missouri Department of Transportation from 1964 to 2002. After retiring he taught civil engineering-surveying at Linn Technical College and worked part-time doing contract surveying for the MO. Dept. of Transportation.

He was a member of Straightway Baptist Church and attended St. Michael’s Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Missouri Trappers Association, the NRA and the Missouri Society of Professional Surveyors.

Neil enjoyed donating his time to the Steelville Food Pantry and gardening. He was known to share his vegetables with friends and especially his corn.
