MEMPHIS, TN- Ms. Corrine Turner, 78, passed away on Friday, July 27, 2018 at Baptist-Desoto Hospital in Southaven, MS. She was born on February 29, 1940 in Union County, Mississippi to the late Edward and Annie V. Turner. She professed her faith in Christ at an early age and joined St. Mary United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of U.C.T.S. School in New Albany, MS. Corrine’s educational experiences included a Bachelor’s Degree from Mississppi Industrial College. She did graduate, worked at the University of Mississippi in Oxford, MS, Memphis University, the University of Arkansas at Jonesboro, and Cumberland University of Lebon, TN. Corrine was a career teacher who taught in the public school systems of Mississippi, Arkansas and Tennessee. She valued the importance of education and encouraged young people to go to school. She was also the owner and operator of a successful cleaning business in the City of Memphis. She continued to substitute after her retirement until the time of her death.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories one sister-in-law: Anna Turner of New Albany, MS, and trusted friends: Mrs. Lettie Parker of Memphis, TN and Rob (Aletha) Gurley also of Memphis, TN, and special cousins: Stanley and Flora Turner of New Albany, MS, also a nephew: Hugh Dale Turner (Janie) of Kansas City, MO, who often sacrificed their personal time to make sure her needs were being met. She also leaves to cherish her memories, nephews: Kerry Joe (Robbin) Taylor of Sheridon, IL, Dennis (Karen) Turner of Fort Worth, TX and nieces: Carla Turner, Hilda Myles and Mineasa (Rev. Virgil, Jr.) Nesbit all of Wichita Falls, TX and a host of cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Edward and Annie V. Turner and her “Big Brother” Hugh M. Turner and a sister: Dorothy Jean Taylor.
