Mrs. Syliner “Lena” Coleman Chewe, 77, transitioned on Monday, February 19, 2023, at North MS Medical Center, Tupelo, MS.
Lena Coleman was born January 18, 1946 to Minnie Golden and the late George Coleman. She transitioned to the arms of our Heavenly Father on Monday, February 20, 2023 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, MS.
She accepted Christ at an early age. She lived and served faithfully at East Baptist Church until her death. She possessed a true servant’s heart. Lena served as Alderwoman of Ward I since 2011, winning the seat vacated by her late husband, Terry Chewe. She was a realtor for Mossy Oak in Pontotoc and a graduate of Itawamba Community College.
Lena was known and loved by many, but adored most by her family. She was a flower God handpicked for his garden. She was preceded in death by her husband, Terry Chewe; two grandchildren, Kevin Davis and Auburn Chewe; her father, George Coleman; and her beloved grandmother, Hager Golden.
Lena is survived by her sons; Bernard (Tammy) Chewe of Dallas, TX, and Stacy Chewe of Pontotoc, MS; one daughter, Santana (Myron) Theriot of Baton Rouge, LA; her mother, Minnie Payton of Beloit, WI; and her siblings, Vivian, Patsy, Cheryl, Helen, Wayne, Carl, Glen, Kenneth, Donald, Terry, Adolphous, Milton, Jazmin, Eunice and Georgia; her brother-in-laws, Thomas (Auther Mae) Chewe and Roy Chewe & Gwen Chewe; one sister-in-law, Sylvia (James) Gregory; twelve grandhchildren; her friend, Charles Jones; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
