Mrs. Nellie Jarrett Herod was born May 19, 1952 to the late Mrs. Gracie Mae Jarrett and Mr. Henry Jarrett.
She accepted Christ at an early age and joined the Church of Christ in Oxford, MS, where she remained until her death.
She never met any strangers and she loved to talk, she would inspire you with her wisdom and knowledge. She was also known for her hospitality and being so generous, she would give her last. She loved cooking for her family and friends and had an open heart to everyone she met.
She worked hard and spent most of her work years at The Gin in Oxford, MS.
Nellie was preceded in death by her father; Henry Jarrett, mother; Gracie Mae Walton Jarrett, sisters; Patricia Walton and Millie Jones.
She leaves to cherish her memories; James Timothy Herod, her husband, her loving and devoted children; Nicole (Charlie) Price of Abbeville, MS, Sirena (Spencer) Morgan and Felecia Key both of Oxford, MS, one son; Arthur Walter Cathey, Jr. (Marilyn) of Coldwater, MS, eleven grandchildren; Shanika, Dominique, Santerica, Surruaka, Kwanzaa, Spencer, Jr., Julius, Jeremy, Travis, Courtney, Nicholas, one great-grandson; Christian, one brother, Grady ( Patricia) Jarrett of Tupelo, MS seven sisters; Sally Coleman, and Jettie (Walter) Campbell, Mamie (Lonzo) Dennis, Mae Sue Alexander all of Oxford, MS, Ola Jean Jones (Eddie) of Okolona, MS, Maggie Mae Jackson of Memphis, TN, brother-in-law; Charles (Mary) Herod of Abbeville, MS sisters-in-law; Gloria (Willie James) Bogard and Flora (Al) Dean both of Oxford, MS, Bobby (Sammie) Burton of Abbeville, MS aunts and uncles; Robert (Mary) Howard, Arnetchers Dudley both of Oxford, MS, Vanessa (Clarence) Williams of Etta, MS, Thomas (Ginger) Walton of Water Valley, MS, Emma (Phil) George of Canton, MS, Terry (Bertha) Howard and Eula (Larry) Buford (deceased) both of Jackson, MS, Tina (Darrell) Miller of Memphis, TN, Lamar (Mildred) Walton of Dallas, TX, Sandra (Arthur) Carver of Manassas, VA, foster parents; Ella Ree Stephens and Sammy Stephens, a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
