Mrs. Lucinda Anderson,  92, transitioned on Monday,  February 13, 2023, Baptist DeSoto Hospital,  Southaven,  MS.

The gift of life was given to Lucinda Cooper Anderson on June 01, 1930. She was the 1st born of John “Lee” Cooper and Ida Lee Rainey Cooper in Michigan City, MS. Both of her parents have proceeded her in death. During her life she was joined in marriage to Jimmie Anderson of Ashland, MS, he also proceeds her in death.

Lucinda accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at the age of 52, in the living room of her mother’s home. She was baptized and joined Sims Chapel Missionary Church in Michigan City, MS under the leadership of Pastor Adam Gholson, where she remained a member until her passing.

Lucinda passed away at the age of 92 years old. In her life she managed to be a wife, mother to 11 children and caretaker of many! She made quite an impact on many lives, adults, children, family, friends, and strangers. She did not meet people with a “NO”. She led with love. She blessed many with food to eat, shelter to sleep, and a place that always felt like home. She was like a mother to soo many people and she enjoyed being that way. To all the local children she was the candy lady, and her home (around the curve) was the place for all the neighborhood children to come and play.

She passed down her cooking skills to most of her children and grandchildren. She was the glue that held her family together. She was a true friend to many.

Lucinda was called home to be with the Lord on February 13, 2023. She was proceeded in death by her brother Gary Cooper, one daughter, Annie Jo Anderson of Michigan City, MS and three grandchildren.

She leaves behind to mourn her passing, 10 children, Gloria Bates (JB Bates) of Memphis, TN, Clyde Cooper of St. Louis, MO, Ida Griggs of Memphis, TN, JoAnn Anderson of Michigan City, MS, Willie Anderson (Brenda Anderson) of Walls, MS, Margaret Cooper of Memphis, TN, Jimmy Anderson (Sandra) of Walnut, MS, John Anderson of Michigan City, MS, Diane Anderson of Michigan City, MS and Denise Dennis of Olive Branch, MS; one sister, Sarah Frost of Memphis, TN, 33 grandchildren, 84 great grandchildren, 41 great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
