MICHIGAN CITY- Mr. Jerry “Sonny” Williams, Sr., 73. He was born on July 25, 1944 to the late Mattie Lue Glass Williams and Ed Williams in Michigan City, Mississippi. On May 12, 2018, Jerry “Sonny” Williams, Sr. departed this life and went to be in the presence of the Lord at his home in Michigan City, MS. Through his marital union with Angela Mae Bills, four children were born: Pattie, Jerry Louis, Shirley and Jonathon; and with Emma Jean Williams, two children were born: Jerry Jr. and Eddie and with Dorothy Valentine, one child was born: Lisa. Jerry lived his life as a devoted son and a dedicated provider and father. He professed Jesus Christ as his Lord and savior at an early age at Mount Bethel Baptist Church in Michigan City, MS. Jerry was self-employed during most of his life by operating an auto body repair/detail business and wrecker service in Memphis, TN. He enjoyed working on cars, raising crops and cattle. He took pride in providing for his family.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory five children: Pattie Lee Beard (Henry) and Shirley Ann Boyd of Ashland, MS, Lisa Poplar of Michigan City, MS, Jerry Williams, Jr. (Toni) and Eddie Williams of Memphis, TN, four sisters: Louise Joy of Memphis, TN, Mary McKennery (Dan) of Phoenix, AZ, Mae Kirkland of Indianapolis, IN, Dorothy Williams of Los Angeles, CA and one brother: Willie Williams of Cordova, TN, two sisters-in-law: Jessie Mae Williams of Moscow, TN and Willie Mae Williams of Michigan City, MS, an aunt: Essie Glass of Chicago, IL, and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Jerry Williams Sr. will be dearly missed by his family, friends and extended relatives. His life will live on as we share and reminisce on the conversations, stories, life skills and dedication he bestowed upon us.
He is preceded in death by two sons: Jerry Louis Williams and Jonathon Williams, his parents, three siblings: Artis Williams, John Williams and Annie Smith
