Mr. George Brown, 78, of Pontotoc, Mississippi, died peacefully at his home on Friday, June 23, 2017. George E. Brown was born September 8, 1938 to Willie Brown and Ruby Kate Brown in Pontotoc, Mississippi. Mr. George grew up in Pontotoc and graduated from Pontotoc Colored High School. He lived in Los Angeles, California for many years. He returned to Beloit, WI for a short while and moved back to his home of Pontotoc, Mississippi.
He was a member of McDonald United Methodist Church. He loved the Lord!
There was never a person that George met on the street that he didn’t take time to greet. Everyone that knew him loved him and his jokes. George worked at Chrysler Corporation in Illinois. He was in the trucking business for many years in California and everywhere he lived he was repairing someone’s car.
George is survived by two sons: Guy(Tamica) Wilson Gupton, Todd Gupton; one daughter: Tammy (Mike Croft) Gupton,; one grandson: Julius Gupton,; two granddaughters: Jacquandria Gupton, and Namyla Gupton; two great grandchildren: Cherish Brumfield, Marquan Karl, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
George was preceded in death by is parents: Willie Brown and Ruby Kate Brown, brother, Willie A. Brown and sister Jewell Betts, nephew, Andrew (Lee) Hopper and sister-in-law, Averetta Brown.
