Monica married Edward Bengel on October 30, 1946 and they were married for 49 years. She was the youngest of 11 children. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Edward Bengel; grandson, Joshua Bengel; great grandson, Caleb Bengel; 11 siblings. Surviving are her children, Mary Jean (Michael) Frye, Diane Bengel, Daniel (Joann) Bengel, John (Cheri) Bengel, Steve Bengel, and Doug (Joni) Bengel; 13 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren.
