Mildred “Millie” Stenger Hartmann of Denton, Maryland died Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at the age of 90. Born in New York City on April 17, 1927, she was the daughter of Helen Healy of New York and MA. From the age of 6, she made her home with Josephine and Edgar Blades in Hillsboro. Millie graduated from Tri County High School in Queen Anne, MD in 1944 and from Beacom Business College, Wilmington, DE in 1945.
Her first marriage was to Russell Eaton, the father of her three children. In 1979, she married Dan Geib, Sr. of Cordova, who died in November 1986. Millie married Robert Hartmann of Hyde Park, Easton, MD, in 1990. He died in July 2000.
From 1962 to 1980 she worked as secretary to the sales manager of Fox Canning Co., Queen Anne, MD. Then, from 1982 to 1989 she worked as an administrative assistant to the director of Easton Day Care Center; after which time she retired.
Mrs. Hartmann was a member of the Hillsboro-Queen Anne UMC and also Ames UMC in Hobbs. She was very active in Bay Country Women of the Moose Chapter 1696, Hyde Park Club and was a Red Hatter. One of Millie’s favorite joys was her great grandchildren, to whom she was referred to as “Minnie.” They always brought a smile to her face and warmth in her heart, as she did to theirs.
She is survived by three children, G. Russell “Rusty” Eaton, Jr. (Barbara) and Wendy E. Moore (Wayne) both of Denton, MD and Becky Jones (Wayne) of Cordova, MD; six grandchildren: Rusty Eaton, III (Lucy), Melanie McMahan (Nash), Brittany Breeding (Matt), Mickee Roser (Darin), Courtney Wisk (Andy) and Carrie Middleton (Jimmy). Millie had ten great grandchildren and was affectionately known as “Minnie” to Brennan and Rilynn McMahan, Stella Eaton & MJ Breeding.
