     Mildred H. Tims died at Homestead Manor in Denton, MD on Nov. 9, 2022. She was 106, born July 24, 1916 at Pipestone, MN, the daughter of the late Robert Edison and Anna Marshal McGaw.

     After graduating from Pipestone High School, she attended teachers college at Mankato, Minnesota, then taught in the public schools of Pipestone County.

     After her marriage to Tony C. Tims in 1939, they resided in the Washington, D.C. area. From 1958 to 1962, Mrs. Tims and her husband published a community newsletter, The Berwyn Heights Informer, which later became a community newspaper renamed The College Park News.

     In 1970 they relocated to Church Hill, Maryland where Ms. Tims manufactured office furniture until his retirement in 1982, when they moved to Denton, Maryland.

     Mrs. Tims was employed at the University of Maryland, College Park; Washington College Chestertown; and Chesapeake College, Wye Mills from which she retired in 1986.

     In 1995 she was honored by induction into the Maryland Senior Citizens Hall of Fame for her volunteer community service.

     Surviving her are three children: Helen L. Gosnell, Manahawkin, NJ.; John M. Tims, Ft. Lauderdale, FL; Linda L. Smallwood, Oxon Hill, MD.; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Paul Warren Tims in 1973 , her husband in 1985 and a brother, James E. McGaw, in 1998.
