Miel Wright Linthicum, Jr of Damascus, MD., loving husband and father of four children died peacefully October 23, 2018 at the age of 90. He was born April 10, 1928 in Browningsville, MD to Miel W. Sr and Irma (Watkins) Linthicum.   Miel grew up on the family farm in Ijamsville.

Through hard work and dedication Miel transformed himself from a farm hand to a pillar of his community and patriarch of his family. While teaching the values and rewards of hard work his enthusiastic love of people was continually expressed through community service; farming, gardening and mowing. He was always at Mary’s side catering weddings and large church dinners. The only time Miel stopped working was to talk, laugh and dance with everyone he met.

As a young man he worked as a farm hand milking cows and recapping tires before eventually working for Montgomery County Public Roads for 25 years.  He was a life long member of the Future Farmers of America and Damascus United Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his three brothers George, Joseph and Bernard Lee.

He leaves his wife of 67 years, Mary Emma (Johnson) Linthicum; His son James (Kara) of New Market, son Bob (Beverly) of Salisbury, Jack (Stephanie) of Florida; Jill (George) Green of Damascus.  Four grandchildren: Krista, Corey (Amanda), Ross (Lauren), Danielle (Jonathan) Barrick.

Six great grandchildren: Cole, Isaac, Ada, Emma, William, Noah.  Three lovingly “adopted” sons Wayne (Diana) Campagna, Randy Smallwood, Dale (Jennifer) Wright.
