Michael Joseph “Heavy” Jantz, Jr., of Denton, MD, was called to his eternal home Saturday, October 14, 2017, at Memorial Hospital in Easton, MD, surrounded by his family. He was 76 years old.

Born in Baltimore, MD on October 27, 1940, Mr. Jantz was the son of the late Michael Joseph Jantz, Sr. and Mary Myrtle Scurto Jantz. After graduation from Calvert Hall College, Mr. Jantz enlisted into the U.S. Navy in January 1960. He and his wife, Mary E. Jantz of Denton, were married on January 26, 1963 and remained happy together for 54 years. They raised their family in Millersville, MD before retiring on the Eastern Shore in 1997. Mr. Jantz had been an administrator for General Motors at the Broening Highway facility in Baltimore, retiring in 1992. He was an avid golfer and fisherman. He was also a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who will be tremendously missed by his family and friends.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Jantz is survived by three daughters: Mary M. Robinson (Daniel Robinson) of Greenwood, DE, Denise A. Cochin (Greg Lombard) of Glen Burnie, MD, and Nicole Jantz (Nerissa Browne) of Silver Spring, MD; one son, Michael Vincent Jantz, Sr. (Kimberly Jantz) of Denton; one sister, Cynthia Liberto of Melbourne, FL; two brothers: Robert Jantz of Sterling, PA and Alan Jantz of North Carolina; nine grandchildren: Steffenee, Samantha, Joshua, Jennifer, John, Jr., Kimberly Ann, Michael Vincent, Jr., Elijah, and Aliya; eight great grandchildren: Kaylyn, Olivia, Anna, Riley, Grayson, Garland, Aubrianna, and Jeremiah.
