Melva Elizabeth (Schnittker) Buchan, 89, of Steelville, Missouri passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at Gibbs Care Center. She was born October 11, 1918 in St. Louis, MO to Joseph Schnittker and Clara (Richey) Schnittker. On September 30, 1939 she was united in marriage to Ronald Buchan, who preceded her in death on April 4, 2002.
She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by one son, Ronald Buchan of Lake Havasu City, AZ; two daughers, Sharon Zeiss and Sharlene Walls and husband Rodney all of Steelville, MO; one sister; Margaret Kosko of St. Louis; six grandchildren, Steve Zeiss and wife Kim, Donna Palmer and husband Ted, Lisa Brown, Shawn Curtis and wife Stephanie, Eric Curtis and wife Stephanie and Lance Curtis and wife Stacey; fourteen great-grandchildren, Justin Palmer, Ashley Palmer, Bethany Aubin and husband Frankie, Sonny Brown, Mariah Zeiss, Sierra Zeiss, Tiffany Curtis, Trevor Curtis, Kyle Curtis, Ryan Curtis, Ian Curtis, Addison Curtis, Brianna Pendegraft and Deric Curtis; one great-great-grandson, Gavin Aubin; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and two sisters, Pearl Wheeler and Bessie Rainbolt.
Melva was a member of a Women’s Extension Club as well as the MO Valley Ropers Association in St. Louis. She enjoyed quilting, cross stitching and flower gardening. Her biggest love was all of her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her one great-great-grandchild.
