Age 90, passed away on Wednesday, November 3, 2004 at her home. She was born on July 20, 1914 to Marvel and Thurman Hutchins. A lifelong resident of Ionia, she attended the Ionia Public Schools, and returned after graduating from the University of Michigan with a degree in music. She married Dr. Chandler Haight on August 13, 1936, and he preceded her in death in 1993. She was very active in civic organizations, including the Women’s Literary Club, Ionia Hospital Auxiliary, and Michigan Dental Auxiliary. Mrs. Haight was also a member of the Emeritus Club of the Alumni Association of the University of Michigan. She also devoted much of her time to her church, the First United Methodist Church of Ionia, where she spent many years as the organist. Maxine is survived by her daughter, Annita Moran of Ionia; her two grandchildren and their families, James Chandler Moran and his wife Martine, and their son Brandon Chandler of Austin, TX, and Michael “Mick” L. Moran and his wife Megan, and their two sons, Bailey Hutchins and Jack Reilly of Richmond, VA.
