Mattie L. Conner of Denton, MD, died Sunday, August 14, 2016 at the UM Shore Medical Center in Easton, MD. She was 84 years old. Born in Ridgely, MD on February 6, 1932, Mrs. Conner was the daughter of the late William Hazel Green and Lucy Helen Long Green. Her husband, Marvin J. Conner, died July 14, 1982. Mrs. Conner was a 1949 graduate of Caroline High School in Denton. She had managed the Silco and Eagles stores in Denton. She retired in 1994 from Upper Shore Aging where she was a Shopper for Seniors. She was a member of the St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Denton. Mrs. Conner is survived by four sons: Michael Conner and his wife Roseann of Denton, Richard Conner and his wife Melinda of Denton, John Conner and his wife Jill of Denton, and Kevin Conner and his wife Debbie of Greenwood, DE; two daughters: Debra C. Saufley and her husband Al of Ft. Defiance, VA and Jacquelyn C. Smith and her husband James of Greensboro, MD; her beloved friend of many years, Andrew “Rex” Werner of Denton; 17 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by three brothers: Allan Thomas Green (Flash), William Bryan Green, and Paul Green; two sisters: Jean Blackburn and Marion Collison; and a grandson, Chad Clark.
